The three star Grange Hotel is located on London Road on the edge of the conservation area. The hotel benefits from two houses, the reception, restaurant, bar and ten bedrooms are located in the Victorian house with a further nine bedrooms in a Georgian house overlooking the secret garden.
Typical of the era the accommodation is spread over three floors making the bedroom access unsuitable for wheelchair users. Guests with limited mobility may find two of the bedrooms in the Georgian house suitable as there are only seven steps to the entrance of this building.
The owners of The Grange are committed to providing accessibility to all guests and with this in mind two years ago applied for planning permission to include a new reception area, lounge, disabled toilets and bedroom all with direct access for wheelchair users. Unfortunately planning permission was refused on the grounds of environmental issues. We will continue to develop ways to improve our current limited access. In the interim our staff are committed to assist all guests whatever their needs.
With prior notice a full sized ramp can be erected at the main entrance, door width 830cms for wheelchair users wishing to use Cutlers Restaurant. The restaurant entrance door width is 760cms.
Bedrooms – no wheelchair access to bedrooms as they are located on first and second floor and there are no lift facilities.
Bedroom numbers 16 and 17 in the Georgian house have seven steps to the main entrance with hand rail. Room 16 has a walk in shower with additional hand rails.
All corridors and public areas are well lit. With the exception of bathrooms and toilets all public areas and bedrooms are carpeted.

There are seventeen car parking spaces with one disabled space located next to the entrance to the hotel bar. This entrance is accessible via a ramp. The bar entrance leads to Cutlers Restaurant via a connecting corridor with a minimum door width of 720cms. This corridor has tight corners making it difficult for large wheelchairs to manoeuvre.
